Communities that prioritize human development are often better positioned for lasting success. Recently, the Amiyi-Akah Media Team received information about a transformative initiative taking place in Odoshiwe village, one of the fourteen villages in Amiyi-Akah. The project, described as life-changing, aims to empower over 20 individuals within the village.

In response, the Amiyi-Akah Media Team reached out to the village leadership for further insight and was directed to the Odoshiwe United Brothers, a diaspora branch of the Odoshiwe Development Union, led by Chief Nnanwa Ojiego.

During our interaction, Chief Ojiego described the initiative as the new face of Odoshiwe, naming it “Beyond Today.”

He explained that the goal is to support the youth now so that, in the future, they can collectively contribute to the development of the community.

He further emphasized that the initiative seeks to address financial challenges within the community by equipping young people with the necessary support and opportunities.

Regarding funding and sustainability, Chief Ojiego expressed confidence, noting that the sons and daughters of Odoshiwe are generous and patriotic, and that many have already contributed and are expected to continue supporting the initiative.

He also acknowledged that while many community members are eager to support the initiative, some are waiting to see the level of commitment from the beneficiaries, as well as how the current phase of the program will be implemented.

Chief Ojiego appealed to all sons and daughters of Odoshiwe to support the initiative, urging them to view it as a long-term investment rather than a short-term effort. He expressed hope that the success of this empowerment program will contribute to solving other challenges facing the community in the near future.

He also expressed his sincere appreciation to all Umu Odoshiwe who have generously contributed to the success of the initiative. He extended special thanks to the fundraising committee, led by Chief Chigozie Ugbaja, acknowledging their dedication and tireless efforts. He noted that without the commitment and coordination of the fundraising committee, the initiative would not have achieved the level of success it has recorded so far.

Our vision is for the empowerment program to reach every family in Odoshiwe, he concluded.
