The Palace of His Royal Highness, Eze Barr. Francis Ahanotu, Iyi 1 of Amiyi-Akah Autonomous Community, has issued an official statement dated 8th May 2026 in response to a voice message allegedly circulated by Mr. Michael Ihentuge and a related publication by Umuaka News 24 concerning a land dispute matter within the community.
The press release, signed by Mr. Dan Ibemere Eze (LL.B) Hons., Cabinet Secretary, Amiyi-Akah Autonomous Community, refuted allegations suggesting that the Traditional Ruler purchased disputed land, describing the claims as false and misleading. According to the statement, the matter was formally brought before the Traditional Institution for adjudication and was subsequently referred to a committee established to independently investigate the issue.
The statement further explained that upon discovering irregularities surrounding the land transaction, steps were immediately taken to reverse the process and restore the property to its rightful owner. Individuals connected to the matter were also invited and questioned during the course of the investigation.
The Palace noted that it later withdrew from further involvement in the matter following alleged threats from one of the parties involved, which subsequently resulted in police intervention and related arrests.
While reaffirming its support for justice, peace, and freedom of expression, the Palace cautioned against the spread of unverified information, false accusations, and statements capable of creating disunity or misleading members of the public.
The Traditional Institution reiterated its commitment to due process, fairness, peace, and the continued progress of Amiyi-Akah Autonomous Community.
Community members and the general public are encouraged to read the full official statement for complete details.
